The Pacific Behavioral Health Initiative (PBHI) in partnership with SAMHSA hosted 14 trainers from all Pacific Jurisdictions for a three-day practical, skills-based workshop designed to continue the work begun in the Clinical Supervisions Foundations Training I Course held in February, 2014 in Tamuning, Guam. All training participants completed the online Clinical Supervision Foundations course prior to this workshop to help prepare them demonstrate their learning achieved to date. Training participants had the opportunity to work together to develop strategies to address clinical supervision challenges and them demonstrate in role play how these skills may be applied. In addition to the training, participants described their own clinical supervision development plans, progress made to date, and plans for continuing development upon completion of their online learning experience.

Immediately following the CS Foundations Training II Workshop, a total of nine (9) PBHI Trainer Candidates remained in Hawaii to begin an 80-Hour Training of Trainers workshop for NAADAC's "Foundations of Addiction Treatment & Building of the Addiction Profession" curriculum. The PBHI Trainer Candidates learned how to apply best practices and effective, scientifically sound strategies to drug use prevention and treatment efforts. The training also addressed some common issues including intake and screening; assessment; treatment plans; clinical documentation; case management; discharge and referral, as well as various exercises and case studies to help guide the new professionals through the counseling process.
